Their plan to surprise their stars, the glamorous Eastern European actress Natasha Navratilova and the intellectually-challenged English actor Ivor Fish, with the newest song from the as yet unfinished play go awry when they overhear a declaration of love between Ivor and Natasha. |

She was married to a nobleman of the court of Louis XV, and took a series of lovers, including the writer and philosopher Voltaire. |

The Marvelous Wonderettes
|
20 Sep 2022 | It is the 1958 Springfield High School senior prom, and four teenage girls who are the school’s “trophy-winning” song leaders are asked to step in as the entertainment. They are replacing the boys’ glee club, the Crooning Crab Cakes, whose lead singer was caught smoking behind the girls’ locker room and suspended from school.
As they sing and dance to popular songs of the 1950s, tension between two of the girls, Betty Jean and Cindy Lou, increases. They fight about a boy, but eventually make-up as the other girls, Missy and Suzy, also sing about their loves. Act One culminates with the vote for the “Queen of Your Dreams,” the prom queen.
Act Two takes place ten years later, at the girls’ ten year reunion. The girls have again been asked to provide the entertainment. Suzy, Missy, and Betty Jean stayed in Springfield after high school, while Cindy Lou went to Hollywood before coming back to Springfield. Each of the girls tells the story of the man in her life and what has happened since high school. The evening ends as magically as it began. |

Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. In spite of receiving no respect from anyone, including his subjects, eventually Arthur recruits a motley crew including the strangely flatulent Sir Bedevere, the dashingly handsome Sir Galahad, the homicidally brave Sir Lancelot and Sir Robin the Not-Quite-So-Brave-As-Sir-Lancelot.
As in the movie there are many obstacles to overcome in search of the Grail, including dealing with Not Dead Fred, the Knights Who Say Ni, Tim the Enchanter and the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog to mention a few. Throw in a Lady of the Lake who is a high-maintenance diva, a song about Not Dead Fred, an atypical damsel in distress, a Las Vegas style Camelot, and oodles of musical theatre parody and there is plenty of opportunity for audiences to laugh.

This group, known as the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, was championed by John Ruskin, the foremost art critic of the time. In 1853, to show his support of the group, he commissioned Millais to paint his portrait. Together with Ruskin’s wife, Effie, they travelled to Scotland where they shared a cottage in the Highlands.
The events of that summer led to an aftermath that shocked Victorian society and caused a scandal that was not resolved for more than 40 years. The Countess tells that story. |
